1. Who is responsible for your data
Byte System (the "Operator") is the data controller for personal data collected through this Site and during masterclass enrolment. Our registered address is 18-3, Hadodaeri, Sangchon-myeon, Yeongdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea. You can reach our policy team at policy@byte-system.one and our general contact at +82-7-752-3787.
2. What personal data we collect
We collect data you provide directly: name, work email, employer, role, and any context you share when enrolling in a Program or contacting us. We collect technical data automatically when you use the Site: IP address, device and browser identifiers, referring URL, and pages viewed. During Programs we may collect work product you submit (drafts, worksheets) for the purpose of cohort critique.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to deliver Programs you enrol in, to operate and improve the Site, to respond to enquiries, to issue invoices and meet legal record-keeping obligations, and to send service communications related to Programs you have enrolled in. We use aggregated, non-identifying analytics data to understand which content is useful and to improve the Site.
4. Our legal basis for processing
We rely on (a) performance of contract for processing related to Program delivery and invoicing; (b) legitimate interests for Site operation, security, and improvement, balanced against your interests; (c) consent for any optional analytics or marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time; and (d) legal obligation for tax records and other statutory requirements under Korean law.
5. Who we share data with
We share your data only with carefully selected service providers who help us deliver our services: payment processors, email infrastructure, video conferencing tools, and the analytics platform powering the Site. These providers process data on our instructions under written agreements. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertising networks.
6. How long we keep your data
Enrolment and invoice records are retained for five (5) years to meet Korean tax record-keeping obligations. Cohort artefacts and discussion records are retained for ninety (90) days after Program completion in the cohort channel, then archived in a restricted-access store for an additional twelve (12) months. Site analytics are retained for fourteen (14) months. You may request deletion of personal data outside these retention requirements.
7. International data transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside the Republic of Korea. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on standard contractual safeguards and transfer mechanisms recognised under applicable Korean and EU data protection law. A list of cross-border processors is available on request from policy@byte-system.one.
8. Your rights
Under Korean privacy law (PIPA) and applicable consumer protection rules, you have the right to access, correct, restrict, or request deletion of your personal data, to receive a copy of data we hold about you, to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis, and to lodge a complaint with the Personal Information Protection Commission. To exercise these rights, contact policy@byte-system.one. We will respond within ten (10) business days.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal data: encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and regular reviews of who can access data and why. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you and the relevant authority in line with Korean law.
10. Children's privacy
Our Programs are designed for working professionals and are not directed at minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 14. If you believe a minor has provided data to us, please contact policy@byte-system.one and we will delete the data promptly.
11. Changes to this notice
We may update this Data Protection notice to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated to active participants in advance.
